New Years Challenge for Mayfield View Residents

For New Years, many people make resolutions and promises to work towards over the course of the next year. However, residents at Springfield Healthcare’s Mayfield View were set a challenge, inspired by Captain Sir Thomas Moore, whereby the activities and wellbeing teams challenged them to collectively walk 100 laps around the garden on New Years Day to kick off 2021.

Over the last few months, the activities team have been increasingly focusing on residents mental and physical wellbeing and keeping residents active and engaged and this group challenge was the perfect way to end the year. When January first came, residents at Mayfield View pulled together and surpassed their goal by walking a collective 256 laps on New Years Day – what an achievement!

Lifestyle Co-Ordinator at Mayfield View, Marilyn Preston, said “we were looking at New Years resolutions for residents and thought it would be the perfect time to set them a challenge. Residents all rose to the occasion and worked as a team to exceed their goal before settling back onto the communities for a hot chocolate and some cake.”
