Chocolate Works Sponsor Special Recognition Nursing Award

Chocolate Works Care Village is delighted to be sponsoring this week’s York Press Community Pride Awards – Special Recognition Nursing Award.

Home Manager, Sarah Paskett, who will be presenting the award at York Racecourse on Thursday 14th October, said “It’s a great honour to be asked to present this prize.  As a nurse myself for over 20 years I have been privileged to work with some very special nurses indeed.  I am sure that it was difficult to create a shortlist from so many deserving nominees.”

Graeme Lee, Group CEO of care operator Springfield Healthcare, commented “I am delighted that we are sponsoring this award.  The communities that we operate in mean a great deal to us as a company and to me, personally. This award is particularly special as my mother who co-founded Springfield, was a nurse.  Congratulations to all of those nominated for the incredible work that you.”

Chocolate Works Care Village is home to nearly a hundred residents receiving person-centred residential, nursing and dementia care from an experienced and professional team.  Daily life is peppered with opportunities to engage in practical and social activities designed to enhance overall wellbeing with as much or as little support as needed.  We welcome visits from prospective residents and their families by appointment and a warm welcome awaits.

Chocolate Works Care Village on Bishopthorpe Road, York opened in June 2017 following a £10M renovation of the old headquarters of Terry’s of York.  The site had been practically derelict and was the brainchild of Springfield Group CEO, Graeme Lee, whose vision was to create a unique environment for the citizens of York and the surrounding area.   Setting new standards for elderly care in the heart of the community the vast central double height glazed atrium has been preserved and transformed into a unique ‘marketplace’ setting for the residents and visitors, complete with café, restaurant, spa, hairdresser, gym and even its own fully licensed pub, The Duke of York! A large roof terrace allows residents to enjoy uninterrupted views across York towards the Minster, adjoining race-course and across the rest of the chocolate works site.

Springfield Healthcare is a Yorkshire based, family run health and social care provider who also operate Care Villages & Care Homes in Leeds, Ilkley and Harrogate.  Springfield also has a domiciliary care division employing over 850 people across Yorkshire, Humberside and the North East.  Springfield began in 1967 with the first care home in the Leeds area, started by Albert and Andrea Lee, parents of current CEO Graeme Lee.
