York Care Home Swaps the Chocolate For Donuts To Celebrate International Nurses Day

Springfield Healthcare’s York based care home, The Chocolate Works Care Village, is celebrating International Nurses Day this year by treating their nursing team to Donuts from local, York independent Doe Bakehouse. Every nurse will also receive a personal card thanking them for the hard work they have put in over the last 12 months, arguably the hardest of their career.

International Nurses Day is a celebration of the work of nurses, organised by the International Council of Nurses. It ensures that the outstanding efforts of nurses are acknowledged globally. It is marked on the 12th of May, the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale.

Springfield Healthcare currently employs 44 nurses across its five Yorkshire homes and Head of Kindness, Care and Quality Angela Randle, herself a nurse, said “The work our nurses do across our homes is so important, especially to the residents that they care for. It matters that we take time to pause and thank them and their colleagues across the world for their contribution to the wellbeing of all of us.”
