Our first Nursing Associates receive their Nursing pins

At Springfield, we support our healthcare assistants and offer the Nursing Associate programme to those who want to develop their careers with us. Our clinical team work alongside our Nursing associates during their training and exams to offer hands on, real world experience. It gives us great pride and joy to see our staff develop their careers with us.

There are currently five Springfield employees (from Mayfield View and Seacroft Green) on this programme, three with the University of Leeds, two with University of Huddersfield and several more starting in the upcoming months. Agnes Manka, Senior Carer (Nights) at Mayfield View, is one of our Springfield colleagues who recently qualified and received her Nursing Pin.

Jay Garraton, Residential Deputy Manager at Mayfield View, said “Agnes is compassionate, dedicated and a very reliable member of our night team. She has strong communication skills that benefits residents and staff and she spends significant amounts of time interacting with residents, staff, and professionals to ensure high-quality person-centred care is consistently delivered.”

Agnes said “I am very pleased about completing the Nursing Associate course. I have thoroughly enjoyed my journey over the last two years and I am grateful for the opportunities given to me.

I have received ample support from Springfield, especially from my Manager, Katie, who remained my pillar through the course. Katie provided me with a variety of learning opportunities, by sharing her own expertise, which has helped me pass my Nursing qualifications.”
