Local Brownies Christmas Cards Competition

We love seeing our relationships with small, independent businesses and groups in our local communities flourish. Recently, Springfield’s Mayfield View invited local brownies group, 3rd Ilkley Brownies to design Christmas cards for residents to choose their favourite.

Residents were excited to see the beautiful cards that the children designed, it was so hard to choose the winners. They spent time looking through all the hand drawn cards before selecting two designs. These cards were printed for residents to write to their loved ones.

Winning Christmas cards

On Thursday 24th November, Mayfield View welcomed 3rd Ilkley Brownies to the home to announce the winner of the Christmas Card competition. The Brownies brought their festive spirit and sung a range of Christmas songs for our residents before tucking into hot chocolate, brownies and gingerbread men.

Congratulations Nellie & Hazel who designed the winning cards, chosen by residents.

We spoke to some of the Brownies who visited. They said:

“I loved it there because all the residents were nice and had smiles on their faces when we sang” – Florence

“I found it great! We got to interact with all the old people! And the hot chocolate was the best hot chocolate I ever had!” – Abby

“It made me happy” – Grace

“I liked the singing. My favourite was jingle bells because everybody danced.” – Nellie-Jo

Brownies are for girls aged 7-10 and some local units currently have spaces.  You can find out more and register your daughter via their website https://www.girlguiding.org.uk/information-for-parents/register-your-daughter/
