Celebrating National Carers Week!

Next week marks the start of Carers Week 2024. Here at Springfield, our carers are the heart of our business. They show up everyday to care for our lovely customers, whether to it is providing support with household tasks, to share a chat and a cuppa, or deliver life-changing care.

To commemorate National Carers Week, we want to celebrate all our carers who go above and beyond.

Kerry, from Hull, has demonstrated her passion for care work and her customers, not only through her day-to-day duties, but in her free time too. Kerry has dedicated her own time to knitting blankets for some of her customers and scarves for her fellow care team.

Kerry has worked at Springfield Hull for a year and a half. “The best move I made was applying for a job at Springfield” Kerry said. “I’ve been a care worker for over 30 years and absolutely love my job and where I work, I have to say the Hull team are amazing.”

“I volunteer at our local library and am able to get free books which I take to one of our lovely ladies, I do like reading myself too and my other hobbies include knitting and crocheting.”

When asked about the motivation behind her knitting project, Kerry spoke about the cost of living crisis and how she has noticed the effect it has had on so many people. “This is the reason why I decided to crochet blankets and knit scarfs to keep Springfield warm.”

It is people like Kerry, who go above and beyond, that make a real difference in the world of care.
