Family Fun Day at Mayfield View

Mayfield View welcomed the community into their home on 16th July for their Family Fun Day! Family members, friends and people from the local community met with residents and enjoyed visiting the range of stalls in the garden.

Children enjoyed a bouncy castle, families enjoyed a variety of games and everyone enjoyed music from a duo David and Marc and a visit from local Alpacas. They were even surprised to see the Lancaster Bomber plane fly over the home in the afternoon.

It was a lovely with food, drink and sunshine and it was wonderful to see residents making memories with their families and friends. It really was an amazing day for everyone that visited.

In the lead up to this event, Sally Carter’s (Deputy Manager) daughter Abigail (10) worked really hard to prepare some items to sell, including pressed flower bookmarks, lavender bags, loom band bracelets as well as little friendship dolls which she designed.

Abigail said “It was such a good day seeing the residents make new friends and chatting to them about some topics that we had in common. It was great to see the residents that live at Mayfield View engaging with people that don’t, it was just like being part of a big fun family party.”

“One of the residents told me all about how she made her sister’s wedding dress and we talked about sewing machines.”

Sally said “After their chat, Abigail gave this resident a friendship doll as a gift. What Abigail didn’t know is that this resident had lost her husband the day before. The smile on her face from this small act of kindness was just beautiful and you could see how important this was to her.”
