Celebrating World Chocolate Week In Style

12th – 18th October celebrates Chocolate Week so in the spirit of these festivities residents of the award-winning Chocolate Works Care Village in York were greeted with a magnificent creation from 12 year old master baker Gil Andrew who cooked up a storm in his kitchen with a life like replica of the beautifully restored building that looked too good to eat! Gil’s step-grandma resides at The Chocolate Works and this is the third cake he has baked since the beginning of lockdown.

Gil, who was taught to bake by his grandma, demonstrated fantastic attention to detail in the buildings architecture to capture the magnificent expansive windows which span across the buildings front. In a safe and secure environment, residents were able to enjoy this delicious chocolatey treat, so welcome in these difficult times with visiting restrictions at the home.

So what’s next? As this week celebrates World Baking Week there is no doubt that the team at Chocolate Works are cooking up plenty of ideas for the residents to get involved with. Since June 2017 the team at Chocolate Works Care Village have been working hard to consistently get creative in the village putting smiles on faces of residents and just like we have seen by Gil spreading generosity, providing thoughtful and heart-warming acts of kindness with lots of interactive activities in line with the relevant season or awareness day for them to get involved with. Because if one thing is for sure COVID can’t take that away.
