Celebrating Halloween at Springfield Care Homes

We have been celebrating Halloween for over 2000 years with trick or treating, fancy dress and horror stories and films. Our residents have grown up celebrating Halloween, so we had to continue these traditions with halloween across our homes. Our residents have been getting creative this Halloween. We have decorated pumpkins (and squash), made an array of Halloween arts and crafts and created decorations for the communities.

For Bonfire Night, we made chocolate apples and we decorated our own fireworks in arts and crafts. We also watched virtual firework displays in our cinemas which was a lovely experience for our residents! One resident at Chocolate Works said that she hadn’t celebrated halloween since her grandchildren were younger and these activities brought back many wonderful memories!
