A Collaborative Art Project with All Saints Students

A heartwarming project blossomed between the year 13 Health and Social Care students of All Saints Roman Catholic School and residents of Chocolate Works Care Village, on Bishopthorpe Road in York. Over several months with weekly visits, students and residents embarked on a creative journey, resulting in a stunning display of flowers adorning the walls of Chocolate Works’ Riverside Community.

The culmination of their efforts arrived with a grand unveiling where students and residents alike reveled in their achievements and  celebrated together with a coffee & cake morning hosted at Chocolate Works. Residents on our Riverside Community can now enjoy this beautiful display, a constant reminder of the joy that arises from collaboration and shared creativity.

Katie, Course Leader Health & Social Care at York College, said “A massive thank you for having us and supporting us during our visits. The girls regularly talk about how much they have enjoyed their visits and the relationships they have struck up with residents. The skills and knowledge they have learnt and developed from the visits are amazing and not something I could have done in the classroom.”

Dave Fieldhouse, Home Manager at Chocolate Works, said “This project has been a massive success and a great experience for both the students and our residents. This project beautifully exemplifies the benefits of intergenerational projects, fostering creativity and connection while bridging the gap between young and old. The resulting artwork not only brightens the community but also celebrates the unique contributions of all ages.”
